Reddit SEO

Reddit threads rank on Google. I work to get yours there with a subreddit, titles people search for and comments that keep a thread fresh.

Search "cruises to galapagos islands" on Google and a mega thread from r/galapagostourism sits on page one, right under Celebrity Cruises. Search "ai seo guide" and my guide in r/AISEOforBeginners is on page one, under Google's own guide, with 30+ comments, eleven months after I posted it. Both are Reddit threads.

Does Reddit Really Rank On Google?

It does. SISTRIX reported in July 2026 that reddit.com was the fourth most visible domain in US Google, with growth peaking in October 2025. Google licensed Reddit data in February 2024. These are the two results I can show you from my own subreddits.

Google results for cruises to galapagos islands showing an AI Overview, then Celebrity Cruises, then a r/galapagostourism mega thread
Google search, "cruises to galapagos islands", captured October 2026.
Google results for ai seo guide showing Google's own guide and then a r/AISEOforBeginners thread
Google search, "ai seo guide", captured October 2026.

What Is Reddit SEO?

Reddit SEO is writing and running threads so that Google and AI tools treat them as the best answer to a search. It is not link building. In my view, a Reddit thread ranks on its title, its comments, its freshness and the authority of the subreddit around it. I wrote the long version in Reddit SEO Ranking Factors: semantic titles, freshness from new comments, organic upvotes, subreddit authority and linkless discussions.

A caveat that matters: I do not control Google. I control what I can control, which is the thread, and I watch what ranks.

What Does byOG Do For Your Reddit SEO?

  • Search research: the queries where Reddit threads already show up for your category, and the gaps
  • Thread titles that match searches, written the way people phrase the question
  • Mega threads and resource posts that deserve to rank, kept current by comment activity
  • Subreddit authority: a brand subreddit that Google recognises, plus a disclosed brand account in 3 to 5 related communities
  • Wiki and FAQ pages built around brand searches
  • Monthly report: what ranked, what moved, what people asked

How Does It Work Month To Month?

Month 1ResearchQueries, subreddits, gaps
Month 1-2FoundationSubreddit, wiki, brand account
Month 2-3ThreadsTitles and mega threads
Month 3+Keep it freshComments, updates, monitoring

Everything is linkless and disclosed. Expect rankings to take months, not weeks, and some threads never rank at all. I keep what works and drop what does not.

What It Is Not

It is not vote buying, aged accounts, hidden self-promotion or burying other results. Those can get threads removed and accounts banned, and a removed thread ranks nowhere. If you need the same keywords this month, run paid search; I have written about Reddit ads versus organic.

My takeI have done SEO since 2015, local sites and affiliate. Reddit is the first channel I have worked in where the content works for search and for AI answers at the same time. That is why it is the only thing I sell.

What Does A Reddit SEO Title Look Like?

Like a question a person would type. A title like "Should I travel to Galapagos if I can't scuba dive?" invites everyone who has wondered the same thing to share an opinion. That kind of title works for Reddit readers and for a search box at the same time.

Compare that with "Top 10 Galapagos Tips You Need To Know". It reads like a blog post, and Reddit readers treat it as one. The first invites replies. Replies are what keep a thread fresh, and freshness is one of the factors in my ranking factors guide.

How Do You Choose Which Threads To Write?

I start from searches that already return Reddit threads, since that tells me Google is willing to rank Reddit there. Then I look at how old those threads are, how many comments they have and whether the answers are any good. A stale thread with a weak top answer is an opening. A fresh thread with 400 good comments is not worth fighting.

I also keep an eye on the questions in your customers' own words, taken from support tickets and reviews. The best Reddit SEO topic is usually a question your sales team hears every week. If you want those turned into a plan, the free Reddit audit is where we start.

How Does Reddit SEO Differ From Normal SEO?

Classic SEO

Your domain, your page, backlinks, technical fixes. Slow and fully yours, but a brand site is competing against thousands like it.

Reddit SEO

Someone else's domain with huge authority. You earn the thread through quality and activity. In my experience it can rank where a small brand site cannot, but the platform owns the page.

I treat them as complements. Reddit threads can bring you the searches that your own site is too small to win, and your own site still owns the booking or checkout.

Who Is Reddit SEO For?

Businesses where buyers search before they book or buy, and where the answer is a recommendation, a comparison or a "has anyone done this" question. Travel operators, software tools, hobby products, local services with a research phase. If your customers never search, Reddit SEO will not help you.

It also helps if you have a real product and a real person who can answer questions. The threads that rank are the ones with specific, experienced answers. A marketing department writing generic copy gets nowhere here, and Redditors tell you so in the replies.

What Can Go Wrong?

Plenty. A thread can get removed by a moderator who dislikes anything that looks commercial. A competitor can post in the same thread. Google can drop a result overnight. A mega thread can attract criticism of your brand, which you then have to answer in public. I plan for each of these: disclosed accounts, rules read before posting, no links where they are not welcome, and a monthly report that tells you what happened instead of what you hoped for.

If you want the posting rules in detail, I cover them in the guide to Reddit self-promotion rules.

What Does It Cost?

Reddit SEO is part of the program from $5,000/month (six month minimum, then month to month). It rises with more subreddits, markets or languages and with posting volume. Prices are on the homepage. For how this connects to AI answers, see Reddit AI Visibility.

Questions About Reddit SEO

What is Reddit SEO?

Making Reddit threads rank on Google by writing titles people search for, keeping threads active with comments and building a subreddit Google trusts.

How long does it take for a Reddit thread to rank?

It varies, and I will not give you a fixed number. My r/AISEOforBeginners guide was eleven months old when I captured its page-one ranking. Some threads never rank.

Do I need backlinks?

I do not sell link building for Reddit threads. The work goes into the thread itself: the title, the answers and the comments that keep it active.

Can you guarantee page one?

No. Google decides. I show real examples and track what ranks every month.

Is Reddit SEO the same as Reddit marketing?

SEO is one part. The wider program is on the homepage, since a thread that ranks also has to earn trust once people read it.
