Reddit is growing, not declining, on every headline number it reports: daily users up 18% to 130.3 million, weekly users up 24% to 514.6 million, revenue up 61%. The caution is underneath. U.S. daily users slipped from 53.5 million to 53.2 million in a quarter, logged-out readers drive most growth, and Reddit's CEO called search referrals "choppy".
The question that matters for a brand is not "how many people use Reddit". The Reddit statistics page has that. It is "will this still be a good place to put money and time in a year?" That is a different question, and the answer needs the details that headline growth hides: who is growing, where they come from, and what could interrupt it. I stick to numbers from Reddit's own filings, named analysts and named trackers, and I will say when something is my own reading.
If you want the plain numbers first, start with Reddit statistics for 2026. This page takes the same data and asks what it is telling us about direction.
What Do Reddit's Headline Numbers Say?
They say growth, across users and money. All of the following are for Q2 2026 against Q2 2025, from Reddit's filing with the SEC.
| Metric | Q2 2026 (millions) | Q2 2025 (millions) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global DAUq | 130.3 | 110.4 | +18% |
| Global WAUq | 514.6 | 416.4 | +24% |
| U.S. DAUq | 53.2 | 50.3 | +6% |
| International DAUq | 77.1 | 60.1 | +28% |
| U.S. WAUq | 197.2 | 181.0 | +9% |
| International WAUq | 317.4 | 235.4 | +35% |
| Logged-in DAUq | 52.6 | 49.3 | +7% |
| Logged-out DAUq | 77.7 | 61.1 | +27% |

Revenue was $804.9 million, up 61%, the eighth consecutive quarter of more than 60% growth, with net income of $252.8 million, 31% of revenue. Full-year 2025 revenue was $2.2 billion, up 69% on 2024, with Q4 2025 daily users at 121.4 million, up 19%. Nothing here looks like a decline. If someone tells you Reddit is shrinking, ask which number they mean.
Is The Growth Coming From Logged-In Or Logged-Out Users?
Mostly logged-out. Logged-out daily users grew 27% to 77.7 million, while logged-in daily users grew 7% to 52.6 million. By my arithmetic, logged-out readers were about 60% of daily users in Q2 2026 (77.7 of 130.3 million). A year earlier it was about 55% (61.1 of 110.4).
| Group | Q2 2025 | Q2 2026 | Growth | Share of daily users, Q2 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logged-in | 49.3M | 52.6M | +7% | about 40% |
| Logged-out | 61.1M | 77.7M | +27% | about 60% |

Why does that matter? Logged-out visitors read. They do not subscribe, comment or build habits in the same way. They are valuable for ads and for brand exposure, since they see the thread your brand shows up in. But they are also the group most exposed to anything that changes how people arrive, such as a change in search. Logged-in users are Reddit's loyal base, and they are growing in single digits.
My takeFor a brand this is not bad news. Logged-out readers are exactly the people who Google a question, land on a thread, and decide. They matter. But I would not plan a community around them, because they are not the ones who answer questions and keep a subreddit alive.
Is Reddit Growing In The U.S. Or Abroad?
Abroad. International daily users went from 60.1 million in Q2 2025 to 77.1 million in Q2 2026. The U.S. went from 50.3 million to 53.2 million, and between Q1 and Q2 2026 it slipped from 53.5 million to 53.2 million.

|---|---|---|---|
| Q2 2025 | 50.3 | 60.1 | 54% |
| Q3 2025 | 51.6 | 64.4 | 56% |
| Q4 2025 | 52.5 | 68.9 | 57% |

| Q2 2026 | 53.2 | 77.1 | 59% |

The U.S. line rose three quarters in a row, then paused. One quarter is not a trend, and TechCrunch noted the dip when it covered the results (TechCrunch, 30 July 2026). I would not call the U.S. a decline. I would call it a slowdown to watch, because the U.S. is also where most of the money is: reddit.com's visits were 49.1% U.S. in September 2026, per Semrush.
The U.S. share of daily users is now about 41% (53.2 of 130.3 million), down from about 46% a year earlier. If your market is English-speaking and American, Reddit's growth is less of your audience than the headline suggests. If you sell anywhere else, you are on the faster side of the platform.
How Dependent Is Reddit On Google Traffic?
More than the company would like, and Reddit says as much. In the Q2 2026 shareholder letter, CEO Steve Huffman wrote: "Search referrals were choppy in the quarter, and traffic was more volatile later in the quarter." He added that the commercial business is strong. On Google specifically he told analysts: "I don't think there's a binary outcome." TechCrunch also reported that Google's AI summaries appear to be drawing audience share away from Reddit, and that Reddit has signaled it is not sure whether it will renew its partnership with Google (TechCrunch).
Put that next to what the visibility data shows. SISTRIX reported in July 2026 that reddit.com was the 4th most visible domain in US Google, and that its visibility growth peaked in October 2025. A site can be extremely visible and still stop gaining. Similarweb measured 7.29% year-over-year growth in visits to reddit.com for August 2026. That is a website-visit estimate, not Reddit's own count of people, so I would not set it against the 18% daily-user figure as if they measured the same thing.
| Signal | What it shows | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Management commentary | Search referrals "choppy", more volatile late in the quarter | Reddit Q2 2026 letter, via TechCrunch |
| Google visibility | 4th most visible domain in US Google; growth peaked October 2025 | SISTRIX, July 2026 |
| Visit growth | 4.2 billion visits in August 2026, +7.29% year-over-year | Similarweb, August 2026 |
| Logged-out users | 77.7 million daily, +27% | Reddit Q2 2026 results |
| U.S. daily users | 53.2 million, down from 53.5 million in Q1 | Reddit Q2 2026 results |

None of that says search traffic is collapsing. It says the single largest source of logged-out readers is volatile, and the company knows it. The data licensing deal with Google, reported at about $60 million a year when it was announced in February 2024, ties the two companies together, and OpenAI announced its own partnership with Reddit in May 2024. The relationships are tight in both directions.
Is Reddit's Revenue Growth Slowing?
The rate is coming down from a very high level, while the dollars keep rising. Revenue growth was 78% year-over-year in Q2 2025 and 61% in Q2 2026, but 61% is still the eighth quarter in a row above 60%.
| Quarter | Revenue (USD millions) | Year-over-year growth |
|---|---|---|
| Q4 2024 | 427.7 | 71% |
| Q1 2025 | 392.4 | 61% |
| Q2 2025 | 499.6 | 78% |
| Q3 2025 | 584.9 | 68% |
| Q4 2025 | 725.6 | 70% |
| Q1 2026 | 663.4 | 69% |
| Q2 2026 | 804.9 | 61% |
Source: Reddit, Inc., quarterly results through Q2 2026
Reddit guided Q3 2026 revenue to $860 million to $870 million, and TechCrunch reported the shares fell more than 10% in after-hours trading anyway. That tells you how high expectations are, and how much of the stock's story rests on the user trends above. I am a marketer, not a stock analyst, and I do not offer a view on the shares. The point for a brand is only this: the company is profitable and growing, so it is not going anywhere next year.
Are More Americans Using Reddit?
Yes, over a longer view, but it has leveled off. Pew Research Center reported that 26% of U.S. adults used Reddit in its 2025 survey, up from 18% in 2021 (Pew, November 2025). In its January to June 2026 survey the figure was 25% (Pew fact sheet), with 40% of adults aged 18 to 29 and 35% of those aged 30 to 49 using it.

|---|---|
| 2021 | 18% |
| 2025 | 26% |
| January to June 2026 | 25% |

One percentage point either way is inside what a survey can wobble by. Read it as flat in the U.S. at around a quarter of adults, after strong growth from 2021. That matches Reddit's own data: the American audience is large and mature, and the growth has moved elsewhere.
Is AI Search A Threat Or A Growth Channel?
Both, which is why this section is the hardest to call. On one side, Google's AI summaries may reduce clicks to Reddit. On the other, Reddit is among the most-cited sources inside AI answers. BrightEdge tracked Reddit AI citations growing about 84% between February and July 2026, and found Reddit passed Wikipedia in ChatGPT citations for the first time in May 2026. Ahrefs showed Reddit in 11.11% of tracked Google AI Overview responses as of 20 October 2026.
My own study, 100 everyday questions run on 21 October 2026 through ChatGPT search with web search forced on, Grok, Perplexity Sonar and Google AI Overviews, found Reddit cited in 21.3% of neutral AI answers and 70.7% when the question asked for what people who have tried something say. You can read the method in the AI citation study. A citation is not a click, so being cited is not the same as getting the visit. But for a brand, it is a second way to be seen that does not depend on the visitor opening Reddit.
What Does The Outlook Look Like Into 2027?
I will only give you named sources, because forecasts invented by bloggers are worth what they cost. Analyst consensus on Yahoo Finance in October 2026 is full-year 2027 revenue of $4.47 billion. Reddit's own guidance for Q3 2026 is $860 million to $870 million. Management's stated position on Google is that there is no binary outcome. Reddit's own reporting is the only source for user numbers, and I treat any user forecast that is not based on those filings as opinion.
What would change my mind? A second quarter of falling U.S. daily users, a further drop in logged-out growth, or a change to the Google and OpenAI data arrangements. I would also watch whether Reddit keeps splitting out logged-in and logged-out users in its reports, since that split is the one that tells you how exposed it is to search. Any of those would be news. None has happened in the data I have.
Which "Reddit Is Dying" Claims Hold Up?
Every few months someone posts that Reddit is finished, usually after a bad earnings day or a change they dislike. Some of the claims have a grain of data behind them and some have none. Here is how I sort them, using only the figures above.
| Claim | What the data says | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| "Reddit is losing users" | Daily users +18% and weekly users +24% year-over-year in Q2 2026 | Not supported |
| "Reddit has stopped growing in the U.S." | U.S. daily users +6% year-over-year, but 53.2 million versus 53.5 million in Q1 | Slowing, not shrinking |
| "Reddit depends on Google" | Logged-out users are about 60% of daily users; management called search referrals choppy | Partly true, acknowledged by the company |
| "Reddit's money is drying up" | Revenue $804.9 million, +61%, net income 31% of revenue; Q3 guidance $860 to $870 million | Not supported |
| "AI will replace Reddit" | Reddit is among the most-cited sources in AI answers, but Google AI summaries may cut clicks | Open question |

My own communities point the same way as the filings. r/GoingToPeru, a community I run, drew about 876,000 views between October 2025 and September 2026 in Reddit's moderator insights, and a separate visits count peaked around 195,000 in July 2026. That is one community and not evidence about the platform. My threads also reach people from Google and from AI answers: a r/galapagostourism mega thread ranks on page one for "cruises to galapagos islands", and my 20 October 2026 tracker found my subreddits cited in 5 of 50 ChatGPT and Grok answers. Any plan that needs one of those sources to stay exactly as it is today is a fragile plan, whatever Reddit's share price does next quarter.
What Does This Mean For Your Brand?
- Reddit is not declining. Do not skip it because someone told you it is.
- Do not build a plan around one traffic source. Own a community and the answers inside it, so you are not relying on Google referrals alone.
- If your market is outside the U.S., you are on the faster side of the platform. Consider communities in other languages.
- Plan for logged-out readers and logged-in contributors differently. The first read your best answers. The second keep your community alive.
- Track whether your threads are cited in AI answers as well as how they rank in search.
That last point is what my AI visibility service tracks, and the community half is the brand subreddit service. Whether it pays back is a separate question I take apart in Is Reddit Marketing Worth It For Brands?.
Questions About Reddit's Growth
Is Reddit growing or declining in 2026?
Growing. In Q2 2026, daily active uniques rose 18% to 130.3 million, weekly active uniques rose 24% to 514.6 million, and revenue rose 61% to $804.9 million. U.S. daily users dipped slightly from Q1, so the U.S. is the number to watch.
Are Reddit users logged in or logged out?
Mostly logged out. Logged-out daily users were 77.7 million in Q2 2026, up 27%, against 52.6 million logged-in, up 7%. That puts logged-out readers at roughly 60% of daily users by my arithmetic.
Is Reddit growing in the U.S.?
Slowly. U.S. daily active uniques grew 6% year-over-year to 53.2 million, but dipped from 53.5 million in Q1 2026. International daily users grew 28% to 77.1 million.
Does Reddit depend on Google?
To a degree. Reddit's CEO wrote that search referrals were choppy in Q2 2026 and more volatile late in the quarter. SISTRIX reported in July 2026 that reddit.com's Google visibility growth peaked in October 2025.
What is the outlook for Reddit in 2027?
Analyst consensus on Yahoo Finance in October 2026 puts full-year 2027 revenue at $4.47 billion. That is a forecast, and user growth depends on search referrals and the U.S. audience, both of which Reddit's own results flag as areas to watch.
Should a brand worry about Reddit's falling U.S. growth?
Not about Reddit going away. The U.S. line is flat to slightly down for one quarter, while revenue and profit grow. The better worry is dependence on one traffic source, so build a community you own and track how your threads show up in AI answers too.
